We are were not even a day into 2017 before the mighty Paranoid Recordings label delivers unto the masses another episode in their long running series of free EP's, tracks, featuring contributions from 1st Science, Yell-O-Phase, Aize and Henry Burner, with the release of the 'Alien Waterworlds EP'.
Sweden based producer, 1st Science drops some rugged, ragga flavoured breakbeat hardcore with 'Dance With The Devil (Different Mix)', which expertly combines warped acid riffs with a bassline that would make Shut Up And Dance take notice. The infamous Finnish, hardcore Viking, Yell-O-Phase presents his breakneck speed, 'I'm Giving You' next, with it's fusion of breakneck speed breaks, spine-tingling piano melodies and gorgeously atmospheric, yet slightly melancholic midsection. 'I'm Giving You' definitely delivers a seamlessly shifting selection of moods within it's 4:51 time limit.
Aize's 'London Ya Know (Steppa Mix)' takes us deep into roughneck jungle territory, welding together trademark '94 rudebwoy bass riddims, tearing amen breaks and brain-scouring mentasm screeches coupled with it's smash-and-grab pilfering of Cockney anthem, 'Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner' vocals. After all of the previous ruffneck sound business, 1st Science returns under his Henry Burner alter-ego, and rounds off the EP with his chilled, techno masterpiece, 'Alien Waterworlds'. A sublime fusion of bubbling, acidic bleep pulsating kick-drums and gorgeous, soaring pads that'll soothe your soul after all of the previous hardcore mayhem.
Whether it's vintage hardcore breaks, roughneck '94 styled jungle or classic techno vibes you're after, then the 'Alien Waterworlds EP' ticks all the boxes.
